Vanilla & Sandalwood Leatherbalm
I'm Simon, a hobbyist leather craftsman at moorland leather, im passionate about keeping traditional leather crafting alive, using the finest British materials. I recently received the iconic Abbey England brown box sealed with brown kraft tape. Inside was the usual well packaged tins of their new scented balms. I was greeted by a tin of citronella and a tin of vanilla & sandalwood, both of which had the lovely new Abbey branding with its warming traditional look and feel. Each tin also had a clear and concise section on how to use, along with a lovely brief history of the balm and a list of ingredients (All natural and traditional im pleased to see). A strong aroma hit my nose from the initial opening of both tins...the citronellas iconic lemon smell been the stronger of the two. I applied both scented balms to a piece i made, to test how it nourished the leather and also the longevity of scent over a 24 hour period. Both nourished fantastically as expected, and the scents for both on the leather are amplified, from that of in the tin. Both smelled lovely on application and mellowed over a 24 hour period to a nice background scent. My favourite been the vanilla & sandalwood. It has a beautiful but delicate scent that would work well with luxury items and reminded me of the autumn/winter months. The citronella was equally nice, but would recommend using sparingly and would be a nice scent to use in the spring and summer months to add the seasonal feel to items.
