Description

Material & Finish
  • These are “fine‑cut” upholstery tacks with a blued finish — meaning the metal has been heat‑treated or otherwise finished to produce a dark, slightly bluish surface. Such a finish helps resist rust or corrosion, which is important for long‑term use, especially when the tacks are used in furniture or saddle work.
Dimensions & Packaging
  • Length (stem): 15 mm — suitable for a moderate depth of material (e.g. padding, webbing, heavy cloth, or layered fabric).
  • Sold by the kilogram (1 kg pack) — giving a substantial quantity, practical for larger upholstery, leatherwork, or repeated projects.
Design & Characteristics
  • Compared with “improved” or heavier tacks, fine‑cut tacks have a smaller head and shank — this makes them particularly suitable for delicate or precise work where a more subtle, less bulky tack is desired.
  • Their sharp point and relatively slim stem allow them to penetrate layers of fabric, hessian, webbing or light padding with minimal disturbance, reducing the risk of splitting or damaging materials.
  • The blued finish gives a neater, more discreet appearance compared to bright steel or raw metal tacks — useful if the tack heads are visible or you want the fastening to blend in.
Typical Uses & Applications
 These tacks are well-suited for:
  • Upholstery: Securing calico, top fabrics, linings, hessian or padding in chairs, sofas, benches, or other furniture.
  • Carpet and rug attachment or carpet edge tacking — where discreet, sharp tacks are needed for hold without damaging fibres.
  • Leatherwork or saddle work — given that similar tack types from the same supplier are used in saddle manufacturing/furniture.
  • Light‑to‑medium‑duty fixtures where a neat, flat head and minimal bulk are required (e.g. light padding fixings, reupholstery of chairs, webbing hold‑downs).
